There's no indication of whose work it is, but I'm guessing it was commissioned by Metrolink as it's adjacent to one of their platforms. It depicts the city rather well - starting on the right with Central and the Town Hall in the south, going through to the Northern Quarter's old warehouse buildings and the Co-operative Group offices (of which more in a couple of weeks). Then there's the Metrolink trams linking through the whole thing.

I tried to take a photo without that lamp-post in the way, but it proved impossible.

Where: Victoria station

Memorial Plaques

Around the back of Manchester Cathedral (which we've seen before - look back through the links for views from different sides), there is a series of blue plaques commemorating various people who've been important to the religious history of Manchester.

If you want to see the individual plaques, click through to William Temple, Peter Green, James Prince Lee, John Bradford and Edward Barlow It's next door to the Savoy (see yesterday's photo) and behind a lot of imposing fencework and undergrowth.
