I've always wanted to photograph this street since I've been running this blog. It really does have no name, as you can see on this map:
It's the little spur to the left of the railway station.
Where: Levenshulme

On my old (circa 1998) Geographia A-Z it is marked as Harmlie Close!
Now that is interesting; but a Google search throws up nothing at all for Harmlie Close, even without inverted commas. In fact, just 'Harmlie' only returns four results, none of them of much use.
Try Harmer Close - sorry but the typeface on my map is hard to make out. Is Levenshulme M10?
No, M10 is Newton Heath, where there is a(nother) Harmer Close - although it's actually in neighbouring M40.
sorry - that's Newton Heath - the road between Station Lane and Carrill Grove is named but my eyesight isn't good enough to read it accurately. Carrill Grove is listed as M19 6C 102 (page in atlas).
Found date of my book is 1992
I'm not sure we're looking at the same place; The Street With No Name is directly adjacent to the railway station, on the west side, where the six parked cars are on my embedded map. It's so nameless that the Google Maps overlay doesn't even highlight it as a street.
I've been and scanned the page on my wife's computer and copied the scan to a pen-drive.
Now I was able to enlarge the map and discover it is actually
Farmside Place.
I notice that just south of Albert Road is another little street named
Farm Yard!
Ah yes - I thought you were referring to the one between Station View and Carrill Close which is unnamed by google.
If not - never mind.
Just had another look at the map now I've enlarged it and the Street with no Name is actually marked but un-named - I see it leading off Albert Road in front of the station - can't see it on the little googleearth satellite with my eyesite.
Awesome stuff! :) Keep up the blog, please!
